TKC Senior Girls’ Volleyball team.
The Volleyball final against Cambridge High School on Saturday 18th March was tough, we played all three sets, the third being the decider. Nerves settled in during the first set, making it hard on us to gain a foothold, and we lost. The second set saw us gaining ground, making a come-back to win it. The last and deciding set had both teams going head-to-head on points until the score was 10–5, we then broke away to win the set 15-7, and the final sets 2-1. This was our first season playing in the Waikato and the aim was to solidify our position in the Waikato Secondary School competition and work towards a place in the Top 4. We were the underdogs going in – ‘nothing to lose, a lot to gain’ – and we did it! A massive thank you to the teachers and whaanau who were on the side-line during the season and turned up on Finals Day to cheer us on for the last game. Paige Epiha has been absolutely fantastic as second Coach, providing training activities and being on the side-line for both teams, which is greatly appreciated by the Volleyball Management team (Neti Sa’o). Thank you to Amy Nash for sorting lunches during training and being side-coach on game day for the Boys’ team, and Patrick Winkelman for driving the vans.
