At Te Kauwhata College, we believe that the wellbeing of our staff is central to creating a positive and successful learning environment for our ākonga. In 2025, we established the Hauora Hub, a team dedicated to promoting and supporting staff wellbeing across all areas of the school.

What is the Hauora Hub?
The Hauora Hub brings together staff from a range of roles across the kura to lead initiatives that support positive staff culture, connection, and wellbeing. It is our way of ensuring that the people who support our learners feel equally supported and valued in their workplace.

Our Purpose

  • To foster a connected and inclusive school culture.
  • To prioritise staff hauora through meaningful wellbeing initiatives.
  • To celebrate the contribution of staff in positive, intentional, and fun ways.
  • To create opportunities for staff to come together, build relationships, and feel part of a thriving professional community.

Why It Matters
A well-supported staff makes for a stronger, more vibrant school community. By promoting a healthy work-life balance, recognising effort, and building strong relationships, the Hauora Hub helps create a workplace where our educators and support staff can thrive — and in turn, better support our students.

Our Approach
The Hauora Hub uses a wellbeing framework to guide its planning and actions, aligning with the values of hauora, collaboration, and inclusion. Regular events, celebrations, and shared experiences are designed to promote connection, balance, and belonging within our school.

We are proud to be a kura that not only looks after our learners, but our kaimahi as well.
