On Thursday 8 June, I took a group of Level 2 and Level 3 Business Studies students to Wintec in Hamilton to present their business ideas to a panel of judges – in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style setting. They had to give a presentation on the key points of their product idea, their mission and objectives, along with how they plan to produce and market their product. Finally, they had to prove its viability through their market research and their budgeting and finance skills. The judges then asked questions and gave them feedback on their pitch. The judges are all prominent members of Hamilton’s business community.
The ‘pitch’ is organised by the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) that the students are all enrolled in. The coordinators from YES said our students did our Kura proud. I also thought they were awesome. Plus, we made it back alive! No getting eaten by dragons this time around…
Look out for further developments in our students’ activities. They will be producing and selling their products at a Market Day on the last day of the term. Look out for their stalls in town on Friday, 30 June.
