At Te Kauwhata College, Physical Education encourages students to live full, active and satisfying lives. Students explore challenging situations in order to increase their knowledge and skills and develop understanding about themselves, others and society. They will learn through interactive and practical activities that draw on their own experiences and needs, current and future. As they actively explore challenging situations, students increase their ability to be resilient, interact with others and develop sports-based skills.
In Health studies, students learn that well-being is a combination of the physical (taha tinana), mental and emotional (taha hinengaro), social (taha whanau) and spiritual (taha wairua) aspects of people's lives. They learn to think critically and make meaning of the world around them by exploring health-related and movement contexts.
